Decision
I write about the places I know, though very few readers are interested in them.
I write about forgotten histories, but they interest even fewer people.
I shape my books in my style, yet they hardly align with the endless trends I read about in fear on Substack.
I pick characters that interest me, yet my critics deem them too gloomy.
I write daily, treating it as my profession, and I hope to support myself with it someday.
I write to release the characters crowding my mind, crammed tighter than third-class train passengers.
I write to search myself, to dig deep, and to bring to light what has been hidden all my life.
But I no longer buy books by authors who publish bestsellers every other month.
Because I now understand writing.

I thoroughly enjoyed your book, “Patches” and maybe you can put a post on Substack to give people a flavor of the time periods & places in Moldova & Romania that you wrote about in “Patches.”
